the best toy ever?

no, not the soda. the bottle! an empty 20 ounce soda bottle is an amazing toy. mom and pop don't really drink soda all that much, but when they do, mercer loves to play with their trash! think about it:

* indestructible for longer play sessions
* nice and smooth so no cuts or scrapes
* makes noises when hit on head, table, or hardwood floor; lightweight so it can't injure
* wrapper is nearly impossible to get off; bright, vivid colors and shapes on wrapper
* bottle itself has curves and shapes for long examinations
* hard, chewable cap
* can fill with small pebbles to make noises
* cheap

the possibilities are almost endless! pop isn't too keen on shoving corporate logos in mercer's face, but that's the world we live in, isn't it? he's going to be exposed one way or the other, unfortunately. we haven't given up on the matter, and we do try to limit mercer's exposure to corporate madness.

anyway, happy weekend to all. mercer and company are visiting grandpa!

my parents used to let me play with a roll of duct tape. give the BOX a roll of duct tape. or my brother and i used to make hockey sticks out of paper towel rolls, try that too. so cheap. or "less expensive" as meredith would say.

good idea. duct tape is very useful. in fact, on the way home last weekend, we all saw a car that had an entire door made out of duct tape driving on the nj turnpike. hurray for humanity!
