Daddy's favorite team, Chelsea, played against their heated rivals, Arsenal (both of London), on Sunday. It was a fantastic back and forth game that pitted Arsenal's "dribble the ball into the opponent's net" approach against Chelsea's "play anyway you want and we'll adapt to it and beat you" style. The first half finished with a 1-0 advantage to Chelsea, but Arsenal were threatening big time in the second, with plenty of goalmouth flurries. But in the 85th minute, Chelsea polished the game off with an absolute Thunderstrike from Alex, their Brazilian central defender. It was a pure blast of a free kick:
Later in the evening, Mercer did his best to recreate Alex's heroics, complete with the 50 yard running start that Alex seems to favor:
I can hardly tell the difference, to be honest.
