Miscellaneous

1. Mommy removed Mercer's first splinter today. Youch.
2. Daddy was mistaken for Mercer's older brother this week.
3. Mercer's new favorite song is "Back & Forth" by The Dismemberment Plan. It kinda sounds like this:

Here is another amazing song by The Dismemberment Plan:

What Do You Want Me To Say?

Scared by the Sound

Mercer accompanied his friend Shaina and her cousins to the under-8 version of Rye Playland's "Scared by the Sound" Halloween haunted house. The kid version featured characters from Wizard of Oz (whom Mercer doesn't know) and other assorted magicians, sorcerers, and even a palm reader. It was good fun on a chilly afternoon. The above photo shows Mercer and Shaina getting sprayed by the fountain near the entrance.

A Halloween Eve morning drive, part 2

After seeing the river, we drove off into the woods. We saw some humans and two deer.

A Halloween Eve morning drive, part 1

Pop took Mercer for a drive this morning to look at all the beautiful colors on the tress. First, we stopped off at the Ossining riverfront. A couple of guys were launching their boat. It was a little chilly for a day on the river, but it was fun to watch.

A Halloween trick.

Mercer managed to accidentally get a knife stuck in his hand last week. We put a Band-Aid on it and gave Mercer a sip of bourbon. He was fine after a few episodes of Spongebob.

Mercer's Halloween parade at school

Mercer had a Halloween parade at school this morning. Here he is with some classmates, from left to right: Mercer, Dexter, Emma, Shaina, Lee.

Batman.

All smiles as the kids lined up in the hallway, ready to march.

Not naptime yet, Shaina.

Once it was time to march, Mercer wanted no part of it. He started to cry and hid in a corner. I realized later that he probably wanted Pop to march with him. Still, I took his hand and we did a few laps. Mercer whispered: "I want to go home, Daddy." I told him, "I'm sorry Mercer, but I have to go to work." His reply: "I want to go to work with you, Daddy."

After the parade, the kids made masks, for some reason.

Emma, concentrating hard.

Shaina, too.

Time for cupcakes.

What a cute couple. Mercer and Shaina's Halloween marching goes all the way back to 2008: Happy Halloween 2008
