Sing Sing Prison

Pop found this great photograph of Sing Sing Prison from the vantage point of just across the Hudson River, looking east. We've been in Ossining for awhile now and Sing Sing Prison is just something the locals live with. Pop and Mercer go running and bike-riding along the prison walls a few times each week. We see the guards changing shifts in the evening and hear the chatter from inside the walls. Click on the photo for some more detail.

Cleaning out the iPhone

In this episode we hang out in bed, visit a Duck Race in Mount Kisco, backpack to the store, try out the scooter, play in the park, use our new Transformers soccer ball, eat dino nuggets, play pretend in Pottery Barn, and show off our new Batjet/Batcar.

Sleeping in the car.

Mercer was a little sick last week when Pop recorded this. Yes, we know it's sideways.

A trip to the ice cream shop.

Any trip to the ice cream shop starts with a fully eaten dinner. Luckily (or unluckily), we have The Purple Monkey ice cream store within walking distance from our house.

First, it's down the long, winding hill.

Then past the neighbor's wall that resembles teeth. There are always great bugs and webs to look at.

"Climbing the ladder" across the busy intersection.

Airplane time.

"Look! Daddy! I found a ladybug!"
"Really?"
"Yeah!"

Finally, some purple ice cream with rainbow sprinkles and gummy bears.

Some annoying old lady suggested we get him a cup next time. I suggest she should stay home and stop talking to other people.

Animals & Acrobats

Despite nursing a slight fever, Mercer enjoyed a beautiful morning at Van Cortlandt Manor, a local historical landmark. The park was hosting an event called Animals and Acrobats, which is billed as an early-American traveling circus. We were treated to a magic show, olde-fashioned minstrels, jugglers, acrobats, mastodon bones, birds of prey, and a small sampling of interesting animals, including a baby kangaroo, porcupine, wallaby, crocodile, lemur, turtle, and a snake. Mercer got exhausted towards the end and fell asleep in the stroller ride back to the car. He then took a 2+ hour nap at home. As Pop types this, Mercer is chomping on a hot dog with a 100+ degree fever. He's such a good trooper.

Purple shirt

Daddy wore a purple shirt to work today. Mercer decided that he, too, would wear his purple shirt.
