A shiner like a diamond.

Last week we discovered that Mercer had a little bruise on his forehead. It went unnoticed for a little while because of his long hair, but we finally saw it during a bath one night. It looked like a small, gray, vertical line; like gently rinsed ashes or something. The next day, it looked like the monster in the picture above. When questioned about it, Mercer said he hit himself in the face with a brick. We eventually ironed out his story; he fell on the playground at daycare and hit his head. It wouldn't surprise us if his initial story were true, though.
